The River Speaks by Elmo Louise
Dear Readers,
We're absolutely thrilled to announce our very first publication: "The River Speaks" by Elmo Louise, coming this July!
Twelve-year-old Roman Avery finds solace in the creek behind his family's house—the one place where his selective mutism doesn't make him feel broken. When his parents announce they're selling their home to move closer to a specialized school, Roman's carefully constructed world begins to crumble.
This moving story explores themes of family, friendship, and finding your voice in a world that doesn't always understand you. It's a perfect debut for our mission to publish stories that reflect the complexity of young adult experiences.
Elmo Louise grew up in a small town in the Midwest, where he spent his childhood exploring creeks, building forts in the woods, and developing a profound connection to the natural world. These early experiences became the foundation for his writing, which often explores the intersection of human emotion and the natural environment.
"I wanted to write about the kind of kid I was—someone who felt everything deeply but struggled to express it in conventional ways," Elmo says. "Roman's journey is about discovering that there are many ways to communicate, and that sometimes the most powerful voices are the quietest ones."
"The River Speaks" is just the beginning! We're already working on our upcoming releases:
Mark your calendars for July when "The River Speaks" will be available wherever books are sold. We can't wait for you to meet Roman and experience his journey.
Thank you for your continued support as we bring these amazing stories to life.
With excitement,
The Soaring Soria Books Team
